Motorcycle Accidents at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's no secret that the Lake of the Ozarks hosts (and is home to) many motorcycle enthusiasts. With Bikefest, Bike Night, The Mid Coast Bike Run, and many other motorcycle events, thousands of motorcycles will cruise the Lake Area roads every year.

Unfortunately, motorcycles are roughly 50% more likely to be in an accident than other automobiles. The number of motorcycle-crash related fatalities is also continuing to rise; according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 14% of all traffic fatalities are motorcycle fatalities (that number has more than doubled since the previous decade).

Lake Race 2015

It's time for one of the biggest events at the Lake: Lake Race! Racers from all over the United States will gather at the Lake of the Ozarks this weekend, ready to compete for top prize money - and, of course, ultimate bragging rights! Tourists and locals alike have been eagerly anticipating the return of this great event, and now everyone is ready to join in the fun.

Lake Race 2015 ~ Event Details

Lake Race is a thrilling, high-speed motorboat race that is held on the Lake of the Ozarks every year. Boaters will race from the 0 mile marker to the 6 mile marker. Spectators will crowd around Beavers at the Dam restaurant on the Bagnell Dam Strip to watch the races, or viewers can tune into www.krmsradio.com/lakeracestream to view the races online. No matter how you choose to watch, you can be sure that this will be an exciting weekend at the Lake.

Lake Race 2015 ~ Volunteer Opportunities

Lake Race, like many of the big events here at the Lake of the Ozarks, relies heavily on volunteers in order to succeed. In addition to the personal satisfaction of knowing they are helping out with a great charity event, volunteers get a free Lake Race t-shirt and the chance to view the races from up close. Like so many of the major local events, Lake Race works to raise money for local charity organizations around the Lake of the Ozarks. Defective Hip Replacements & Medical Devices

When people are injured, they are often in their most vulnerable states physically, mentally, and emotionally. Recently, there has been increased attention drawn to defective hip replacements and the repercussions they are causing. Recently, there has been a great deal of attention given to two specific products: DePuy Orthopaedics and Stryker Rejuvenate.

DePuy Orthopaedics

DePuy Orthopaedics, a division of Johnson & Johnson, recently had to recall two widespread hip replacement systems: the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular Hip Systems and ASR Hip Resurfacing Systems. These implants have defective designs that causes metal to rub against metal, resulting in pain, swelling, difficulty walking, and high amounts of toxicity in the patient's bloodstream.

These DePuy systems have been widely used since 2003, and experts estimate that roughly 93,000 of these recalled ASR systems have been implanted across the globe. Unfortunately, recent data has shown that as many as one in eight patients required a second surgery within five years of the initial hip replacement surgery.

Stryker Rejuvenate

The Stryker Rejuvenate Modular Primary Hip System (designed by the Stryker Corporation, one of the world's largest medical technology companies) originally garnered a great deal of positive attention because it is designed in such a way that allows doctors to customize the implant to perfectly meld with each patient's unique physical anatomy. Unfortunately, Stryker systems have led to a wide variety of negative side effects, ultimately leading to permanent bone and tissue damage as well as heavy metal poisoning.

The Stryker Rejuvenate system was released in February of 2010, and recalled in July of 2012. As with the DePuy systems, thousands of patients had already received these defective implants.

Putting For Patriots

Jungle Golf, Pirate's Island, and Pirate's Cove miniature golf courses all over the country have teamed up to support this great event. What an awesome way to give back this Memorial Day!

Ozark Yacht Club's Parade Of Lights

Power boats and sailboats alike will be decked out with lights for the water parade on Saturday, May 23rd. The parade will begin at Ozark Yacht Club and travel along Bagnell Dam in front of Willmore Lodge to Beacon Point Condominiums before returning to Ozark Yacht Club along the south side of the Lake. The parade is designed to commemorate the U.S. men and women who have performed invaluable service for our country.
