Contingency-Based Fees: Why They're The Best

At McDuffey Law Firm, we operate strictly on a contingency fee basis: our clients never owe us a single penny for representing their personal injury case in central Missouri unless we successfully recover money on their behalf. We believe that this contingency fee method is by far the best way to handle our payment structure. Here are a few of the reasons the team at McDuffey Law Firm strongly believes in this method.

4 Reasons Why Contingency-Based Fees Are The Best

1. Our Clients Are Already Facing Financial Pressures.
If an individual is reaching out to our personal injury attorney at the Lake of the Ozarks, it is safe to assume that, for one reason or another, he is already facing steep medical bills and expensive procedures. Our goal is to help ease his financial burden - not add to it!

2. Contingency Fees Take The Stress Off Of Hiring An Attorney.
Many people are very hesitant to involve attorneys in their situations because they are afraid that the costs of legal representation will outweigh its potential benefits. Since we operate on a contingency fee basis, our clients can be confident that they will not owe us any money unless the settlement comes through.

3. Our Clients Know We Have Their Best Interests At Heart.
When attorneys charge for specific services or by the hour, some clients worry that the attorneys are not doing everything in their power to win the case. Thanks to our contingency fee structure, our clients trust that our staff is on the same page - we all benefit from winning the case, so we can work on the same team with our clients towards a common goal.

4. Our Fees Will Be A Percentage Of The Total Settlement Amount.
Contingency fees are based on a percentage of the total settlement amount. Consequently, our clients can rest assured that they will not be responsible for any out-of-pocket expenses that they may not be able to afford. By taking the stress of unknown costs out of the equation, we give our clients the time and energy they need to focus on healing.

5 Things You Might Not Have Known About Personal Injury Law

Personal injury law is complex and involved. Even if you spend months or years researching your personal injury case, you probably won't learn everything there is to know. Because of all the little details requiring attention, hiring a personal injury attorney at the Lake of the Ozarks will give you your best shot at getting the best compensation for your injuries.

The team at McDuffey Law Firm aims to make the process easier on our clients in any way we can. This week, we're here to help shed some light on some little-known facts about personal injury law.

1. You May Not Be Required To Pay Your Attorney If You Don't Win Your Case.
Many personal injury attorneys, like our local personal injury law firm in Osage Beach MO, operate on a contingency fee basis. This means that our clients will not owe us a single penny for our services unless we win! We are strong believers in our "no win, no fee" policy because it helps takes some of the stress off our clients' shoulders.

2. "Personal Injuries" Don't Have To Be Physical.
When most people think of injuries, they think of fractures, sprains, or broken bones. In fact, personal injuries encompass a wide variety of non-physical injuries. For example, you may be able to get financial compensation for associated pain and suffering and any emotional or psychological damage.

3. If You Are Injured On Commercial Property, You Have Rights.
Business owners who have commercial property have a legal obligation to create a safe environment for their customers. If you are injured on commercial property (for example, slip-and-fall or machinery accidents), you may have the grounds to file a personal injury lawsuit.

4. You Have To File Within The Statute Of Limitations In Order For Your Case To Be Considered.
Every state has a statute of limitations that dictates when lawsuits can be filed. If you wait to file your personal injury lawsuit until after the statute of limitations has expired, your case will not be valid. In Missouri, the statute of limitations is two years. If you are debating whether or not to file a personal injury case, be sure to make your decision within those time constraints.

5. The Settlement You Ask For In The Very Beginning Directly Impacts The Damages You Will Receive.
Demanding too little in the very beginning could cause you to get stuck with a tiny recovery. Asking too much, on the other hand, could cause you to seem inexperienced and incapable of properly valuing your claims. Your personal injury attorney will be able to help you determine the best starting point.

We Can Help You Navigate Your Personal Injury Case.
With so much at stake, it's important to make sure you approach everything strategically and accurately. Our experienced team can help you properly value and manage your personal injury case in order to increase your chances of earning a large settlement. If you would like more information, give us a call to schedule your free consultation.

Experienced Workers' Compensation Attorneys

What happens if you are injured at work?

Unfortunately, workplace injuries are much more common than anyone would like to think. Despite our best efforts to create safe work environments, employees continue to suffer minor to severe injuries (and, in some cases, even death) while on the job. If you or someone you know has been the victim of a work-related injury at the Lake of the Ozarks, it is crucial to seek representation from a qualified workers' compensation attorney in Camden County MO.

Don't Be Scared To File A Workers' Comp Claim

Many employees who suffer a work-related injury, especially if it is somewhat minor, may be nervous or hesitant to file a claim. They may like their boss and not want to upset him/her, or they may be afraid that filing a claim could cause animosity at work. What these victims probably don't realize is that Missouri law specifically prohibits employers from firing or otherwise discriminating against employees who file workman's comp claims. If you have reason to believe that your employer is violating these laws, contacting an experienced personal injury attorney at the Lake of the Ozarks to defend your rights is critical.
